Due to work from home, you might be spending most of your time glued to your laptop screen and the other half of the day must be spent watching movies or scrolling through your phone. Staring at laptop, television and mobile phone has increased several folds during the coronavirus lockdown
This excess of screen time usually tires our eyes to the maximum extent. It can lead to red eyes, puffiness, and even dark circles. Here are a few eye care tips that you must follow especially during the lockdown, to keep your eyes healthy these days:

Exercise

It is very important to do some exercises to relax strained eyes. In order to help your eyes relax, hold a pencil at an arm’s length and concentrate on it. Move it to and fro by moving your hand closer to your face and then tracing it back to the original position. Relax your eyes in between and continue doing it for 2-3 minutes.
Trace a rainbow with your eyes
Focus on a distant object and trace a rainbow from one end to the other. This will help in moving your eyes and will relax the strained muscles. This exercise will also improve blood circulation and also help you in focusing better.

Massage

For eyes that are strained, massaging is an important step. Just keep your palms on your eyes and gently massage in a circular motion. Also, massage your eyebrows as well as the area below the eyes. The heat release from the massage will help in relaxing your eyes to the maximum extent.

To keep your eyes relaxed while your work, follow this 20-20-20 rule. Take a 20-second break, every 20 minutes, and concentrate on an object 20 feet away from you. Keep your focus on the object for a while and then relax your eyes. This trick will not only prevent your eyes from a digital strain but will also make them exercise from time to time.
The Best Routines for Getting Rid of Dark Circles and Under Eye Bags

In the morning or evening – or better yet, in the morning AND the evening – apply a cold compress for about 10 minutes. If you have a mask you can keep in your fridge and pull out twice a day, that’s the easiest way to try this dark circle reducing method. Just make sure to keep it clean and give it a good soapy scrub a few times a week!

2. Cucumbers
To try this method twice a day, chop a fresh cucumber into thick slices and then refrigerate for 30 minutes. Then, leave the slices on your eyes for 10 minutes. Rinse your eye area with warm (but not hot) water after using it.

3. Cucumber Juice + Lemon Juice
If cucumber slices don’t work for you, try mixing equal parts cucumber and lemon juice and then use a cotton ball to apply to your under-eye circles. (DO NOT get lemon juice in your eye!) Leave the solution on your skin for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

Rosewater doesn’t just smell fantastic – it can also soothe and rejuvenate tired skin. Like cucumber, it’s a mild astringent, so it can work as a skin toner. Just soak cotton makeup remover pads in rose water for a few minutes, and then let the soaked makeup pads sit on your CLOSED eyelids. Leave them for about 15 minutes twice daily.
Tomatoes
5. Tomatoes
mix equal parts tomato juice with lemon juice and then use a cotton ball or makeup remover pad to apply it to your under-eye area. (Again, PLEASE do not get lemon juice in your eyes.) Leave the solution for 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water, twice daily.

Meditation

Whether it’s a mindfulness exercise after a yoga practice or the peace of mind you find on a long, quiet run or swim – also keeps stress (and the wrinkles and fine lines caused by stress) at bay.
People can make sure they are getting enough quality sleep each night to help reduce or prevent dark circles. Raising the head up on extra pillows may help reduce dark circles and swelling around the eyes.
With these wonderful natural recipes, you are now geared up to reduce dark circles. But let me warn you, no skincare routine can ever be complete without its magical ingredient and that is regularity and discipline. So start right away!
