What recruiters do and how candidates are chosen?

Job applicants interviewers collection
Recruiter Rebecca
Hi friends, this is Rebecca and I am an HR Recruiter, I do have almost 6 years of experience in this field. So here I’m going to tell you all about what we Recruiters do and how we chose a candidate for a job for the required roles. Also, I’ll guide you on how to go for an interview and how you can be trained for it.
Who is a recruiter?

A Recruiter is a person who has the responsibility to hire the right candidate to fill in the position for different skills in a company.
Everyone thinks HR Recruiters are happy and they don’t have any work. Also is been put in many minds that they earn a lot and are always free from everything. Actually guys you know what, we really have a lot of work especially when you guys leave the job and we take the trouble to replace your place in your team. And guess what we really don’t get paid even half the salary paid for you. We do struggle a lot.

Well first we get the requirements from the business team and we post them on Social networks & Job portals. According to the requirements given we search on the Job portals and call each candidate from various locations or some specific locations.
We first shortlist a candidate through a call by checking with their years of experience, the required skills they have worked on, their current salary, their location, also we ask them to speak on the project they have worked on especially to check on their communication, their graduation and where they are currently working in.
Usually, all the requirements and needs differ from company to company so we work according to it. Then we ask some basic questions to check with the candidate how confident he/she is and how well they answer them. According to that we select them and call them either for a Face to Face interview (making the candidate come directly to the office location) or if the candidate is not able to travel to the location we keep a telephonic interview. And if it’s a Face to Face interview we complete all the rounds of the interview on the same day or max 2 days but that depends on the requirements, availability of the panels who take the interview, and the managers. And if it’s a telephonic interview, some of the candidates request for Skype interview for the second level of the interview or we’ll call them to our office according to their availability.
Max, there will be 2 or 3 levels of an interview with each candidate. That depends on a company too because there are companies that scrutinize candidates by taking up to 5-6 rounds of interviews.
There are companies / Recruiters who make the candidates wait to check on their level of patience and tolerance too. Because I was once a candidate too. So please do not get tensed for all this and keep yourself calm and wait till the end. After all this the time for feedback, some give the feedback immediately and some share the feedback very late and there are Recruiters who forget or don’t share the feedback too. So when a candidate is selected they get the feedback immediately or in a day or on the same day it depends.
But if the candidate doesn’t receive the feedback it’s understandable that the candidate is rejected. Very few Recruiters inform the candidates that they are rejected. But there are ways to inform a candidate’s rejection, can motivate him and can ask him to come back to give another opportunity.
Why do candidates get rejected?

The reason for rejection will be their communication, the level of confidence, their attitude, their dressing style for an interview, their profile if there are too many gaps, or skipped many companies (stability issues), graduation. It should be 10th, 12th, 3 years if they’ve done in Arts & Science and if they’re Engineering it should be 4 years) and Masters in degree. Certification courses are an additional added advantage for their career too. Regular education is what a look in a profile which is a must and if there is a break unless there is a proper reason a Recruiter has to drop the profile. And there is more.
So I’ll come back with some interesting tips next week. Until then signing off from Rebecca.
Regards,
Recruiter Rebecca
